Hey! It's been a while. Where have I been?
What I've been up to, some updates to the website and social media accounts, and some cool statistics!
Hello! I hope you all have been doing well, staying safe and healthy, and spending some good time with your family and friends. I do have to apologize for my multi-month absence, especially for those who subscribe to this website. This website has gone relatively neglected, and if you’ve been on it recently, you may notice I’ve wiped it almost entirely and redone some of the look. I’ll get more into that soon. However, I also want to thank you all for still keeping up with my older content! I’ll dig into statistics at the end, but I’m very happy people are still coming by to watch my content. I hope you’re getting something useful out of it!
Where have you been?
To say I’ve been busy would probably be an understatement, in all reality. After my last social media post in June, I took a 2-week vacation away from work to go see family back home. After that, I got back on the work grind, and from there, it was getting ready for my second year of college. Now that I’m back in college, it feels like it has been non-stop exams, projects, homework, etc., and that requires a lot of time, studying, patience, and effort. So, I’ve had to put my tech content to the side for the meantime.
Unfortunately, it’ll probably stay mostly that way for now. But as I am starting to get into some more break seasons, and the temporary lull before my winter finals, I hope to make a couple pieces of content here and there when I can. I’m feeling more of a creative urge again and am actually getting inspired to get some ideas together, so I think I’m at an okay spot once I finish all my projects and assignments.
Of course, there is no guarantee. That’s why, at the very least, I wanted to give you this update, so you’re not left in the dark.
Updates to the website and social media
The biggest update to the website has been to the content. As in, I’ve wiped pretty much all of it. The main reason for this was that I felt it was extremely inconsistent in terms of the style and formatting, rather than prioritizing quality. They felt more like last-minute rush jobs just to get something up on here, rather than something genuinely meaningful. So, I’ve decided to just make this a fresh slate. I also updated the About page and cleaned up the header links. Along with this, the Notes tab was also cleared out for similar reasons.
In terms of my social media, I’ve mainly updated the descriptions of them to be a lot more casual and less information-heavy than they were once before. I made the channels with a goal to be a “mostly professional” tech content creator, but my content has steered more into one of those “just having fun with it.” So, that’s what I’m revolving more of the channels around.
Some bullet-point social media updates I’ve done as well:
I’ve moved my \@HaydenDoesTech Twitter account to its own thing, rather than it also being my personal Twitter account.
HDT Extras is now a secondary, non-HDT branded channel (but still loosely tied to HDT), just named “HT” for my initials and a nickname of mine. Check it out here!
I now have a Gravatar link in bio to keep everything in one place while also still looking somewhat neat.
Less important to the overall content, but I have also started an LLC — LaCelle 3 Media LLC — to help give some foundation to this project, and to allow for this project to expand to greater avenues later on!
Into the analytics!
Twitter, Facebook, and Threads are excluded since they don’t get much activity and don’t have much analytical data to go off.
Probably one of the biggest surprises I have gotten is from my YouTube channel. When I last uploaded, we were gaining about ~400 views a month, which I thought was freaking awesome!! But, apparently, we’re now up to gaining about ~1,100 views a month, and with the past few days as of writing, gaining ~50-80 views a day! Funnily enough, it’s this video (which is also my first) that’s driving most of it: Tables in Outlook! #outlook #outlooktips #outlooktutorial
I think a lot of that has to do with it being fairly short and getting straight to the point, being actually useful but still with some personality, and the fact that not a lot of people make videos about tables in Outlook (to be fair, I don’t expect a lot of people to.) So, I sincerely appreciate all of you for taking a look at that video and my other content as well! I’m happy to know people are getting something out of it, even almost a year after I published it. As of writing, it is at 6,172 views — up from 1,891 on June 5! It is also now my most popular!
Overall Statistics for YouTube (since July 22, 2024): 13,100 views - 72.4 watch time hours - 8 subscribers!
Instagram and TikTok aren’t the most interesting, but they have still been steadily gaining views from my content since my last upload! So, again, thank you so much! It genuinely means a lot to me and I’m glad you guys are responding to the content.
Overall Statistics for TikTok (since November 16, 2024): 7,387 views - 436 likes - 5 followers!
Overall Statistics for Instagram (since November 16, 2024): 2,286 views - 24 likes - 30 followers!
To conclude this, I want to express my heartfelt thank you to all who have supported my content over the past year and 3 months that my website has been alive now, and those who have stayed subscribed even through my unannounced absences. I hope to be back at it soon, but if there’s any reconciliation, I am still alive and around! I am just probably studying for exams and projects 95% of the time…
